ALL THE AWARDS

There’s also the fact that most media features casts with a dearth of women. Creating original women characters to round out the cast is a perfectly normal impulse. But I’ve had other women tell me flat-out that they only write m!slash so they can’t be accused of writing self-inserts or Mary Sues.

It’s all the contradictory can never win BS that made me give up the idea of Mary Sue. Especially when we started applying it to characters in original works. There are poorly written characters and well written characters no matter the abilities, personality traits, and plot lines given to them. Can we start talking about such things without insulting the gender of the main protagonist?

Agreed. Everyone realizes that if we include original works Batman should be considered a Mary Sue of ridiculous proportions right? As a matter of fact since Batman is no longer being written by the original creators (and hasn’t been for over half a century by now) he should be considered one.
